Forces v2026.9.7 lets you recolour a theme with swatches, adds sorting and filters to Research, redesigns the Most Recent cards, puts the game you're playing on your Android lock screen, and lets you sign in on forces.app. Warhammer 40k 11th Edition and Starcraft support have improved again as well.
Themes, Now With Swatches
Some themes used to exist in several near-identical copies that differed only in colour. A theme can now carry swatches instead: pre-made palettes you switch between from the theme picker, without touching the tint controls.
Starcraft switches between a Terran, Protoss and Zerg palette, so the app can match whichever army you're building.
IDE replaces the nine editor themes. Dracula, Solarized, Gruvbox, Catppuccin, Nord, Kanagawa, Tokyo Night, Everforest and Ayu are now swatches of one theme, each carrying its whole palette: background, surfaces, text and accents. If you were using one of the old themes you'll land on IDE with that palette already selected, so nothing about your setup changes.
World Cup is new, with a swatch for each of 48 countries. A swatch can carry its own surfaces and animated background as well as its accent colours, so several countries get their own scene, including a star field and a Nordic cross.
The Warhammer 40k theme now follows 11th Edition's styling more closely and gains an Armageddon swatch, and Age of Sigmar 4th Edition gets a Skaventide one. The theme's title font also reaches more of the app: roster names, game rows, news articles and Meta rows.
Research: Sort and Filter
Research has a new filters bar. You can sort any faction's units by name or by points cost, and Warhammer 40k gets filters for units most players won't want in their list.
A New Look for Most Recent
The Most Recent cards used to spend most of their space on the game system badge and spell the army out in small text underneath. Each card is now a tile about the roster: the army's glyph sits in the background, its name sits in a capsule beside the points, and the game system becomes a coloured spine along the edge.
On phones the tiles sit two across so the points and army names fit on one line, and the "how many recents" setting now offers 2, 4 or 6 to match. Desktop keeps three across.
The Game on Your Lock Screen
Android now has Live Updates for games in progress, matching the Lock Screen card iOS got in 2026.9.4. On iOS, that card now also shows each player's Command Points alongside the score, so you can keep track of CP between turns without unlocking your phone.
Sign In on forces.app
You can now sign in at forces.app with the same Apple or Google account you use in the app. There's a Sign in button at the top of every page on this site as well.
Once you're signed in, My Rosters lists every roster you've synced from the app. Open one to read it in the browser, or share it: Forces creates a link anyone can open, no account needed.
This is just the start: more of Forces will come to forces.app over time.
Warhammer 40k 11th Edition and Starcraft
11th Edition support keeps improving. This release includes:
- Units are built and rosters validated the way NewRecruit does it, including catalogue category points budgets such as Unaligned Forces, Harlequin allies and T'au Non-Kroot.
- A weapon picked on a multi-model card is now charged per model, and a single model card offers "add another group" when there's room to split it.
On the Starcraft side, single models such as Heroes and buildings were missing from the roster view and its Minerals and Gas totals. Both are now shown and counted.
